Interview Practice

If you are short-listed as an applicant to Oxford or Cambridge Universities, Medical or Veterinary College, some U.S. universities or a handful of other higher education institutions, you can expect to be interviewed.  Greene’s offers subject-specific interview preparation with comprehensive feedback from interviewers who, in many cases, will have been involved in the admissions process themselves.

The purpose of the practice interview is to prepare you for the kind of close, analytical discussion with which you may not be familiar.  We simulate the probing questions you will be asked, comment on any written work that is available (e.g. submitted essays or your Personal Statement) and test your knowledge, reasoning and aptitude.  The feedback will offer constructive suggestions on how best to present and develop your arguments and make suggestions about further reading.   As a prelude to the practice interview you may be asked to prepare or write a short exercise which will become the focus of discussion.

While our interviewers are trained to be rigorous and penetrating in their questions during the practice, we endeavour to build your confidence and give you concrete guidance for the future.  We will ensure that you have the opportunity to ask us for advice and you will receive detailed verbal feedback and written suggestions through your online tutorial report.

To arrange your practice interview, please e-mail the Tuition Co-ordinator at tuition@greenes.org.uk.
