Tutor Facts

Greene’s tutors are selected through a ten-stage application process. Once we are happy that all these stages have been satisfactorily completed, tutors are then entered onto our register.

We look for a range of qualities in our final selection:

Experience of the tutorial method
Enthusiasm
Communication skills
Ability to understand and deal sympathetically with different learning processes
Ability to meet examination criteria

Statistics about Greene’s Tutors
Each year, we accept approximately 200 tutor applications, with the following results:

45 % of applicants are registered as ‘approved’
93 different subjects are on the profiles of approved tutors
70 % of tutors have a first degree from a British university
45 % of tutors have a first degree from Oxford or Cambridge
40 % of tutors are studying for a secondary degree or doctorate at Oxford
85 % offer distance learning in addition to face-to-face tuition
50 % male and 50% female
77 % 20-40 years old; 23 % 41-65 years old
