Sarah

English Literature & English Language

Sarah completed her doctoral research in 2018, at Oxford Brookes University, on early modern melancholia and present day depression in literature. Before gaining her Ph.D. she gained her B.A. from the University of Buckingham in English Literature and French, and then went on to gain her M.A. Sarah’s lecturing and tutoring experience has been extensive since 2015, and she has taught intensive A level, IGCSE, GCSE, and I.B. courses across a number of examination boards and a wide variety of texts. Predominantly, her experience has been in individual tuition and she recognises the value of work that is well-structured and well-expressed, as well as informed and accurate. She believes that one of the most important qualities of a tutor is the ability to listen carefully, and to identify the unspoken and less obvious gaps in knowledge, which a student reveals. In addition, she believes in carefully challenging the student by prompting him or her to support arguments and critical assumptions.
