Head of Tutors
Greene’s wishes to appoint a Head of Tutors.
Greene’s Tutorial College is the oldest tutorial college in Oxford (and quite possibly the U.K.) and for over 50 years has been providing a university-style sixth form education for those taking A levels, as well as other educational services such as supplementary tuition for those at school. It also partners with schools and colleges by providing support and help with university entrance preparation and advice.
Greene’s is non-selective, and enrols students with a broad range of backgrounds, previous educational experiences, interests and motivations.
Teaching is online and face-to-face, and includes individual tuition, group learning and extensive testing – to encourage resilience and independent learning.
Tuition is delivered by a cohort of tutors, who are crucial to Greene’s continuing success. These tutors are freelance independent contractors and need encouragement and support to feel part of the Greene’s community, as well as benefitting from exacting yet sympathetic oversight to maintain academic and professional standards of delivery.
The Greene’s Head of Tutors provides this oversight, and is an effective leader who has a clear vision for the development of a community of these highly qualified tutors. This role is the central point for the recruitment, training, on-going professional development, management and quality assurance of the tutors. The Head of Tutors is therefore a successful communicator, trainer and manager of this dispersed network of professional tutors, with the ability to liaise adeptly with all other interested staff at Greene’s.

Greene’s provides a personal, exceptional and demanding academic experience that liberates students from a one-size-fits-all curriculum. All students have a personal academic plan, are taught using the tutorial method, join a leadership programme, have their own personal tutor and mentor and are expected and challenged to think.
Our commitment to the tutorial method of learning means that each student is taught individually or in small groups by tutors. At Greene’s development of the individual, pastoral care, leadership and learning go hand in hand. Greene’s is non-selective, and enrols students with a broad range of backgrounds, previous educational experiences & interests.
Students achieve the academic results, skills, values and behaviours they need for success in higher education and their careers.
